When it trying to find someone on a dating site/dating app, or just generally finding if someone has a dating profile, it comes down to two things:
- A genuine way.
- Plenty of not so genuine ways.
Now, of course, that also depends on your own definition of genuine, but let’s assume we’re holding on to the ‘standard’ – you know, the general constructs, morals, and ideas of the ‘right’ in human society.
It is tiring to keep those thoughts of doubt, and insecurities. So much, that it comes to a point where the thing you thought you’d never do seems just reasonable enough to do at that very moment: checking their phone while they’re not around.
We recommend using the Socialcatfish service to find out if someones have a dating profile, which is more accurate and provides various dating apps/sites included.
Now, that’s understandable, considering that there’s a lot of pressure going on when you’re having thoughts that don’t leave you alone for a moment.
I’ll show you 7 ways to find out if your partner is on dating sites, most of which are free. I’d suggest you take a deep breath before we begin. Took it?
Starting with the first, and my personal favorite way to find out someone’s got a dating profile:
1. How about an honest, open and genuine conversation?
If you’re trying to find out if someone is registered on a dating site/dating app for free, this is one of the best ways to go!
Assuming that it is your partner you’re trying to find on dating apps/dating sites, the first thing you want to do to solve this is to have an honest, open, and genuine conversation.
I know, it sounds too cliche and all that, but if your partner is genuine and honest with you, they’ll get rid of your doubts.
Relationships are about supporting and lifting each other up, not draining each other in doubt, insecurities, and pain. If your connection is genuine, the conversation will solve this out pretty well.
However, if you can’t be settled, even after the conversation (which is not a good sign, by the way, I’ll explain later), then you can try other things out…
2. Using google search to find hidden dating profiles
Believe it or not, Google can help you find hidden dating profiles for free. Now of course, you’ve got to know how to use it, in order to get results.
There are a few options you can find out if someone has a dating profile, through google. YES, THROUGH GOOGLE, PEOPLE!
Alrighty! The first option is using the advanced search option of Google. In order to make it an easier way to this ‘advanced search’ on google, all you’ve got to do is put a word in quotes, add space, write “site:” and the name of the site you’re looking for the word.
In this case, we’re looking for a name, for a person, for someone on a dating site, right? Now, think of what username your partner would use and put that on the search engine. I’ll give you a few examples:
This works mostly for tinder, but you can give it a try with other dating sites too.
The second way is to site.com/@username.
Here is an example: tinder.com/@jessica
You can put the username you think they’d use, meaning, you can add numbers too. It’s free, it’s worth giving it a shot!
3. Dating profile search through the tools available on the internet
So, what are these ‘tools available on the internet’? – You may ask. Well, I’m talking about these:
- Spokeo – Worldwide (requires payment)
- Usersearch.org – Worldwide (free/doesn’t require payment)
- Socialcatfish.com – Most countries in the world (requires payment)
- Cheatbust (Tinder only) – Worldwide (requires payment)
By using these tools (one, or all of them), most of which are free, you can find dating profiles by email, or you can find dating profiles by phone number, that of course, besides name with/without last name, nickname.
They work pretty much the same way. You enter the website, and you write a number/email/name/nickname and search.
Now using these takes time, some even money, but since you’re not satisfied enough with the ‘genuine conversation’ I guess you’ll take it.
*Please reconsider having ‘the conversation’ before you get into this.
Usersearch is free (though it has options for which you have to pay for), and shows you most of the results you’re looking for. It has got options for which you want to search plenty of dating sites at once (example: Dating sites, Search Email, Social Networks etc).
It is one of the ways to find out if someone has a dating profile for free, and I thought of sharing my thoughts on it with you.
This is not sponsored by usersearch, I am sharing this through personal experience.
4. Using your own dating profile if you have one/opening a dating profile if you don’t have one
If you’ve got a dating profile, and you’re wanting to see if your partner or whoever that ‘someone’ is that you’re looking for, has a dating profile too, then you’ve got to set the preferences.
How do you do that? – You may ask. And I, surely will answer:
– Most dating apps/sites show you people based on your preferences, but they also show you to other people based on their preferences. To put it simply, if you match each other’s preferences, your profiles will appear to each other’s feeds.
This is due to the dating apps’/sites’ algorithm. A dating app’s/site’s algorithm is a calculation of a computer that works on whether the users of the app are compatible with one another or not.
So, you might want to set the preferences according to what they could’ve put as ‘them’.
Also, pay attention to the location, since most dating apps show you the nearest, and if the person you’re looking for lives in another country, then chances are you’re not going to be shown to one another.
Your partner (or whoever you’re looking to find) can make a fake dating profile in order to not be discovered, if, of course, their intention is to hide the fact that they’ve got a dating profile.
Now, there are ways through which you can tell if a dating profile is fake (e.g. a fake tinder profile), one of which is reverse searching their profile picture/s(our article’s focus stands on Tinder).
5. Find someone on dating sites by email – “This email has been email/phone is already registered”
Because, “Forgotten password” hello?
I’ve checked Tinder, Bumble, eHarmony, Okcupid, Badoo.com, pof.com if it’d work to put in the email on the registration part to see if I’d get an “This email is already used” or anything similar, and apparently eharmony is the only one to be working that way.
Though it doesn’t say exactly that the email is ‘taken’, it just says there’s something not valid. To prove it:
Now, before you go on and see if this works on other dating apps/sites, test out any other email, because it could cause you trouble. And do NOT use your email, since you’ll look like the one who’s trying to cheat. You’ll get the emails, even if they’re blank. So, test it out before you go for it.
Unhealthy idea: Put your partner’s email on the log in procedure, or registering procedure, while they’re present. See if they react once they get a notification. If they tell you or not.
Unhealthy idea #2: Do this (putting their email on the registration or log in part of a dating app/site) while you can see a notification on your partner’s phone and while they’re not present.
6. A friend might help
If you don’t have a dating profile yourself, I’m sure that at least one of your friends has one. What you can do is ask them to keep an eye on when using their dating apps/sites – Of course, if you trust this friend enough to do this.
You can tell them that it is about your partner. If they’re a good friend that you can trust, they’ll be a good friend to tell you when they spot your partner while using their dating media.
Yet another way to know if your partner has a dating profile, for free.
7. Would absolutely not suggest, but some people do it: checking their partner’s phone/computer
As much as I hate to say it, it has been effective a lot of times – Here’s how people have been doing this:
- Once your partner is not around in the room, but has their device/es in the room that you’re in. Check their phone, or computer if you know their passwords (if not, you’re not gonna be able to do anything).
- Next, look for apps such as Tinder, Hinge, Grindr(if you’re gay), OkCupid, eHarmony, etc. If you don’t see these apps it’s a pretty good sign they’re not using them. However, your work is not done yet.
- Check their browsing history. Look for those sites, you’ll know clearly when a site they’ve been on is a dating site, since it’ll most probably say in the link. (e.g. match.com, tinder.com, pof.com, etc.)
In this case you’re looking if your partner has a dating site, or a dating app, or both.
Note: If your partner is using their dating profile in incognito mode (which is a mode on the browser that doesn’t save any history or traces of whatever you watch/search/do – partially on the internet), you’re not going to find anything.
This is at your own risk. If you feel like this is the only way to have peace of mind in this part, then you might want to rethink the basics of your relationship.
Reasons why I don’t recommend this:
-This one can result in unhealthy patterns being practiced in the relationship.- You’re breaking their trust.
– You’re not respecting their privacy.
– You’ll be looking to find something, and you might even find something even if it isn’t there for that particular reason. You searched for it, you found it.
– You’re choosing a sneaky way to solve the problem. Instead of talking to your partner about it.
*Keep in mind
If they’re really trying to hide it from you, there are a lot of chances they’re not going to use their real names, emails, or even phone numbers (they could be using fake phone numbers, e.g. fake phone numbers for hinge, tinder, etc).
How to find out if someone has facebook dating?
A dating profile on Facebook Dating can only be seen by those who joined Facebook Dating. So, in order to ‘find’ and ‘see’ someone on Facebook Dating, you’ve got to join Facebook Dating.
There’s this thing called ‘secret crush’, you can basically add people there, which will be notified that someone has a crush on them but not who has a crush on them. They’ll never know who it is unless they add you to their ‘secret crush’ list.
If you both add each other, then you’ll match, and you’ll both know that you’ve been on each other’s ‘secret crush’ list.
Also, checking their phone (which you already know I don’t recommend at all) could help you with this.
These are the only few ways to find out if someone has a dating profile on Facebook. That’s about it. Good luck!
A few things that might indicate they’re on dating sites/profiles
They’re protective of their phones/other electronic devices.
This behavior usually means they’re hiding something, or they’re being secretive about something on their phone, it’s not necessarily a dating profile, but it means there’s something they’re not willing to share with you.
They’ve been very engaged in their phone lately, and they don’t really share what it’s about.
They seem to be so into their phones, they take it everywhere they go, and use it a lot. Now, it’d be a different story if they’d share with you what it is that they’re doing on their phone, but in this case, they don’t. On the contrary, they hide like their life depends on it.
You found out that they’ve been having a second phone keeping it secret from you.
A secret second phone is never a good sign. If not a dating profile, something of infidelity could definitely be in the mixture. If not a Valentine’s Day surprise, something of infidelity could definitely be in the mixture. Have the talk. Please.
Is it internal insecurities, or are they really behaving suspiciously?
I’d like you to ask yourself right now: “Why am I honestly looking for this?”
It might be internal insecurities if this is a behavior you’ve practiced in past relationships too without a particular reason or behavior to trigger it. Or, if you find yourself being insecure about other connections in your life (e.g family, friend, etc), then it could just be internal insecurities.
However, if their behavior is reminding you of suspicious behavior/actions then chances are, there is something suspicious going on.
Answer that question to yourself, and sort it out with yourself.
If you’re seeking peace of mind…
Put yourself in their position. Think of it, would you tolerate it if they’d behave the way you are in order to find a certain truth? Would you feel good if they’d be doing all this ‘investigating’ behind your back?
If you’re not feeling good about what you’re doing if you don’t see another way of trusting your partner without feeling the need to control them, take a break to figure it out or leave the relationship. It’s a sign that the relationship is building upon unhealthy bases.
You’ve got the options, the recommendations, you make the choice. It’s up to you.
Best of luck!
